Description

The Moondrop Old Fashioned headphones flawlessly merge the nostalgic charm of the portable audio golden age with contemporary high-fidelity engineering. Inspired by the iconic mini on-ear designs of the last century, this open-back headset houses a rare, oversized 40mm dynamic driver with a three-layer rigid-flex composite diaphragm. This advanced core delivers a rich, full-bodied sound with unprecedented bass depth and a natural, transparent soundstage aligned with the DF-HRTF target response. Breaking away from fixed vintage structures, it features a fully modular architecture with swivel-ball joints for DIY customization and a 0.78mm 2-pin interchangeable cable interface for lasting durability. With refined telescopic mechanics and multi-axis damping hinges ensuring adaptive comfort, the Old Fashioned offers a warm, fatigue-free listening experience that captures the soul of retro gear with the technical precision of modern studio equipment.

40MM LARGE DYNAMIC DRIVER WITH COMPOSITE DIAPHRAGM

At the core of the Moondrop Old Fashioned lies a rare oversized 40mm dynamic driver, specifically engineered for this compact open-back structure. It features a three-layer rigid-flex composite diaphragm with a high damping coefficient and optimized resonant frequency. This advanced configuration delivers bass reproduction depth that is almost unprecedented in mini headphones, ensuring a rich, full-bodied sound that captures the classic laid-back listening experience while maintaining modern technical performance.

SUPERIOR FREQUENCY RESPONSE ALIGNED WITH DF-HRTF

The Old Fashioned utilizes an innovative open-back acoustic design to achieve outstanding frequency characteristics that align closely with the DF-HRTF (Diffuse Field Head-Related Transfer Function) target response. With an effective frequency range of 20Hz–32kHz and total harmonic distortion as low as ≤0.2%, it delivers a natural, transparent soundstage with precise imaging. This tuning ensures that even with a standard 3.5mm connection, listeners experience studio-level fidelity with the signature warm, fatigue-free tonality of vintage gear.

INNOVATIVE MODULAR DETACHABLE ARCHITECTURE

Breaking away from traditional fixed designs, the Old Fashioned features a fully modular construction where the earcups and headband are connected via swivel-ball joints. This allows for complete detachment, enabling users to swap the headband for custom accessories like ear hooks or neckbands. This design encourages DIY customization, allowing you to tailor the wearing method to your specific needs and individual style preferences.

UNIVERSAL 0.78MM 2-PIN DETACHABLE DESIGN

Designed for longevity and versatility, the headphones utilize a standard 0.78mm 2-pin interchangeable cable interface with a groove-reinforced structure for durability. This design eliminates the common failure point of fixed cables found in retro headphones. The included high-quality cable features a standard 3.5mm stereo plug, ensuring reliable connection and compatibility with a wide range of source equipment.
