HiBy - RS6 R-2R Portable Music Player

HiBy's Darwin architecture is an entirely new high-resolution digital signal processing architecture created in-house. The system features resistor ladder linearity correction and, for the first time on portable equipment, advanced functionalities such as linear FIR filter, nonlinear harmonics control, switchable oversampling / NOS, and DSD bypass in a break through evolution of traditional R2R architecture. The end-to-end adaptable design is totally configurable, allowing for unlimited updates and evolution in the future.

The Darwin architecture supports up to 16x oversampling (as well as NOS), with several filter types to choose from to preserve linear phase and reproduce the original sound; it's also customizable to adapt to different earphone characteristics, ensuring adaptability to a wide range of earphone designs and driver configurations.

The R2R-based amplification stage is full of musicality, vivid, and natural, bringing music to life and performers onstage in an immersive experience.

NOS mode eliminates oversampling and antialiasing, responding instantly to transients and stairsteps, and converting to analog in the most raw and direct way possible. Oversampling mode removes aliasing artifacts, enables all Darwin architectural functions, and allows for individualized sound signature tweaks while adapting to different headphones.

Because of the SoC's processing capacity, an unprecedented 16x unfolding of MQA data is achievable, reproducing the original master tape from smaller source files. MQA is an award-winning technique that captures and reproduces the sound of the original studio master in a tiny file that can be streamed or downloaded. HiBy is cooperating with MQA to provide listeners with the real original sound quality.

The two crystal oscillators for the 44.1xkHz and 48xkHz families are clocked at 45.158MHz and 49.152MHz respectively with subatomic precision down to -140dBc/Hz @1kHz, DSD256 enabling 768kHz and DSD256 decoding at down to 0.003% / -115dB THD

We've already worked with ten professional HiFi brands in and outside of China, having each brand's sound tuning professional tune the Darwin architecture's various hardware parameters to their earphones' characteristics, resulting in tailor-made tunings for each brand, all available at the touch of a screen; more to follow.

Native DSD decoding on an R2R system is no longer an oxymoron thanks to distinct LPFs for PCM and DSD. The DSD-specific LPF significantly lowers HF noise created by the delta-sigma modulation process, allowing DSD audio reproduction to be optimized.

The Snapdragon 660 processor, together with high-speed LPDDR4 RAM and eMMC storage, allows for high-demand multithreaded computations (audio or otherwise) to be completed in record time. 8-core Kryo 260 architecture, 2.2GHz, 14nm LPP technology, Adreno 512 GPU 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of storage, with a microSD card slot

To top it off, 1x OPA1642 and 2x OPA1612 are used to build a discrete current-mode amplification scheme, giving ample current to the output stage to achieve exceptional dynamic and transient response. This is then coupled to four flagship-class OPA1622 opamps in a 2x2 parallel configuration for 8 independent channels of headphone amplification; each channel is a combination of voltage and current amplification stages. All of this is regulated by a professional NJW1195A digital volume controller, which ensures excellent circuit dynamics and control at all times.

The HiBy OS is HiBy's in-house created HiFi audio system architecture, which is built for audio processing from the ground up. It now supports advanced audio capabilities such as USB audio input and output, wireless audio input and output, and systemwide audio effects, and it has been updated to work with Android 9 OS.

The Direct Transport Architecture has always been known for defeating the originally mandatory sample rate conversion of android for the onboard headphone output. Now, DTA can also bypass sample rate conversion for third party apps even when using USB audio, achieving bit perfect output from almost any app, to anywhere.

HiByLink allows you to operate your RS6 from the HiByMusic app on your smartphone, allowing you to control playing, volume, playlist management, and more.

At the Bluetooth 5 standard level, it supports both Bluetooth audio reception (to wired headphones or USB output) and Bluetooth audio transmission (to Bluetooth earphones), as well as a variety of Bluetooth codecs such as UAT, LDAC, aptX, aptX HD, AAC, SBC, and others. The RS6 has a 4500mAh high-capacity battery that can last up to 8.5 hours of continuous playtime and 25 days on standby. Quick Charge 3.0 (QC3.0) is supported, with a charging power of up to 18W.
